CHIANG MAI, CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, October 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — How much is a haircut in Chiang Mai? At 14 hair salons and barbers in the city that list their prices online, starting prices for an adult haircut ranged from 200 to 1,050 baht, with a median of 475 baht. The median is the middle price when all prices are lined up in order. The highest was about five times the lowest. Hair & Beauty Salon, a hair salon on Rat Chiang Saen Road in Chiang Mai, near Old Town and Wua Lai Walking Street, read the prices on 29 October 2026.
For a men’s cut, starting prices ranged from 200 to 500 baht (median 360, 6 salons), for a wash and blow dry from 150 to 500 baht (median 350, 13 salons), for all-over colour from 899 to 5,000 baht (median 2,250, 14 salons), for highlights from 800 to 5,000 baht (median 2,650, 11 salons) and for balayage, a style of highlights, from 2,000 to 5,400 baht (median 3,500, 6 salons). Hair straightening, including rebonding, a chemical straightening method, started at 1,000 to 5,900 baht (median 2,500, 10 salons), and a hair treatment or hair spa at 500 to 2,500 baht (median 1,125, 12 salons).
The count started on Google Maps. Of 89 hair salon and barber listings that Google Maps showed for the search “hair salon chiang mai”, six linked to a website or booking page with prices; 36 linked only to a Facebook page, which the count did not check. The count then added hair salons and barbers in Mueang Chiang Mai, the city district, that list prices on the booking platforms Gowabi and Fresha or on their own websites, 16 in all: nine from Gowabi, two from Fresha and five from their own websites. For each salon and service, the count took the lowest listed price, often a starting price, and on Gowabi the regular price rather than the discounted voucher price. Hair & Beauty Salon’s own prices are not part of the figures.
The figures are a guide, not a like-for-like comparison. Some prices include a wash, blow dry or treatment, others do not. Some salons list one price for every hair length, others only a starting price. The count gives a figure only where at least six salons list a service; a women’s cut on its own is listed by three.
At Hair & Beauty Salon, every service comes with a wash and blow dry. A women’s haircut costs 400 to 700 baht by hair length and takes about an hour, or an hour and a half for long or thick hair. A men’s haircut costs 400 baht and takes about 45 minutes, and a wash and blow dry on its own 200 to 400 baht.
Hair colour, which covers all-over colour, grey coverage, toner or gloss and colour correction, costs 1,200 to 2,500 baht and takes about two hours, or three for long or thick hair. Before colouring, the salon asks about the hair’s history and in most cases tests the colour on a strand first. It uses colours from NIGAO and L’Oreal and puts a bond builder, a product that protects the hair during chemical work, into every colour and every bleach.
Babylights, fine and subtle highlights, are the salon’s speciality and cost 3,500 to 5,500 baht by hair length. Other highlights cost 1,500 to 4,300 baht and balayage 4,000 or 5,000 baht, all with toner included. Highlights take two to six hours, babylights and balayage four to six.
Hair straightening with products from L’Oreal and Shiseido costs 2,000 or 3,000 baht by hair length and takes about four hours, or six for long or thick hair. The salon chooses the formula for coarse or fine hair, and a bond builder goes into every chemical step. The hair spa costs 600 to 1,500 baht and takes about one to one and a half hours, in three levels: a conditioning spa for shine, a two-step bond treatment for hair that is dry or damaged from colour or other chemicals, and a five-step treatment for very dry or damaged hair.
The salon answers in English and Thai and is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00, closed on Wednesday and Sunday. Walk-ins are welcome, though booking ahead on Fresha or by phone is recommended; the salon also answers on WhatsApp and LINE. Payment is in cash or by QR code. A client who is not happy with the result can have it fixed the same day.
