Searles, a first-year law student at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, will receive $2,500 in winnings!
MARIETTA, GA, UNITED STATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Kaylin Searles is a one-of-a-kind student with an incredible history of community service under her belt. Her application for the Jones & Swanson Community Service Scholarship highlights the years she’s spent advocating for underprivileged children in high-need communities in and around Chicago.
Searles works as a teacher, site administrator, and enrollment specialist for a non-profit in the Chicago area, ensuring that she can use her education to assist children academically and socially. Her efforts help secure these children’s access to essential medical and dental services as well as transportation and educational support.
In the video she submitted for the firm’s consideration, Searles emphasizes that her outreach experience has made her a stronger leader and honed her sense of compassion into a tool that she can use to benefit the people around her.
She also notes that her position has encouraged her to improve her ability to communicate. Searles facilitates complex agreements between her non-profit and support organizations, while also using her Spanish to ensure that non-English-speaking families can benefit from the services the non-profit offers.
Searles continues to serve others outside of her non-profit as well. She took the initiative to write and publish her own children’s book, Wonderful You, which addresses children’s self-esteem issues and encourages them to remember that they are, in her words, “fearfully and wonderfully made.”
When asked why she found herself drawn to Jones & Swanson’s Community Service Scholarship, Searles says, “I genuinely care about my neighborhood, my city, and communities that are often overlooked or under-resourced. Serving others is something I have always had a heart for, and I appreciated the opportunity to share that through my video.”
When she’s not giving back to communities in need, Searles studies as a first-year law student at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She is a Civitas ChildLaw Fellow and intends to use her legal education to work in education law or child and family law. She wants to continue advocating for children and families and hopes that there will be a position for her at the Cook County Office of the Public Guardian.
The Marietta personal injury lawyers at Jones & Swanson applaud Searles’s endless commitment to improving the lives of people around her and hope that her scholarship winnings make her first year of law school easier.
