Former Shipt COO Returns to Lead Company’s Next Chapter 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Shipt, a national retail technology company powering same-day delivery, announced today that Raj Kapoor will rejoin the company as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective Oct. 18, 2026. Kapoor previously served as Shipt’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) from 2022 to 2025. 

A seasoned operator with deep fluency in Shipt’s business and culture, Kapoor brings a proven track record of leadership in high-growth businesses across digital commerce, retail, and technology. During his time as COO, Kapoor built powerful capabilities at Shipt, scaled the fulfillment engine, and elevated quality and service across the platform. He led day-to-day operations to ensure seamless experiences for customers, shoppers, drivers and retailers alike. Since 2025, Kapoor has served as senior vice president of marketplace at Target, where he drove profitable growth, assortment expansion and stronger experiences for customers and partners on Target Plus. Previously, Kapoor served as an executive at Lyft and SquareTrade.

Kapoor will succeed current Shipt CEO Kamau Witherspoon, who has been CEO of Shipt for more than four years. During his tenure, Witherspoon guided Shipt through a significant strategic and operational transformation, expanding its offerings across same-day and next-day delivery, integrating the Shipt marketplace as a benefit in the Target Circle 360 loyalty program, and investing in industry-leading features like Preferred Shopper. After serving more than 15 years across the Target enterprise, Witherspoon has decided to step away to pursue the next chapter of his career. Witherspoon will remain in his role through late October to support a smooth transition.
